A crisp wind was coming in from the sea, the scent of a far off storm upon it. The storm probably wouldn't hit here - it was half finished already. The sky was still dark and cloudless, but strangely there were no stars within sight. The sea splashed gently on the beach and on a rock nearby the sand sat a mericorn. Her coat was a shining pearly white. Her hair, medium blue, cyan, silver, sea green and hot pink, swirled around her still form. Glitter shone heavily in the silver and pink strands, and upon her green eyeshadow. Her forest green eyes searched the horizon, and her long golden horn, spiralled with gold glitter, reached up towards the heavens.
The moon was full and its reflection was splayed across the water a few metres in front of Andromeda. She'd kept her mer form - it being easier and of her love for the sea. She rarely came up to the surface during daytime, for fear of being seen by the land ponies. At night she didn't mind so much. It was peaceful now, and her long pearly white tail flicked up and down every now and again, much like a cat's. The silver fins sparkled in the moonlight, and she was perfectly still, listening to the calm of the waves.

Nightstar landed silently on the beach after a short flight from another part of the beach where she had argued with some outlanders. Possibly pirates. She felt a bit bad for neglecting the situation. She let her hot head get the better of her. She hung her head and thought. Her friends were dealing with them now. If they really were pirates, they'd have easily finished off her friends, in the wink of an eye, in the flash of a wing. She sighed and looked up at the starless sky. Her star was the only star around. She had gotten into the habit of calling the star that was her symbol 'her star'
She scanned the beach to make sure she was alone. She stopped when she noticed she wasnt. Another outlander she growled, tking a step forward. Then she noticed something different about this pony. The first thing Nightstar saw was the blinding glitter caught in her hair, shining in the moonlight. Then, she noticed something else. A horn with swirling gold glitter. And a mer-tail? A crossbreed. Normally crossbreeds were outcasts, such as this one. But Nightstar was always accepted. Because she was a royal. She wondered if she was a crossbreed would she be left out..
She kept a distance from the merlicorn, watching her closely. She used her power to make small waves crash onto shore, just to see how the merlicorn would react. She kept hidden in a bush at the edge of the sand, peaking out through a gap in the leaves.

The steady rising and crashing of waves made Andromeda start - she'd been dozing slightly and the sudden change in atmosphere has startled her. Quietly she turned her dark green eyes towards the shore where the waves splashed loudly, then stretched her tail. Her ears flicked back and forth to catch any other sounds that might be made, and she looked at the site where the pirate ship has gone down earlier. Some bits of driftwood were still floating around, but more or less all of the bodies had been cleared out by now. Good. Andromeda couldn't swim if the water was polluted by bodies and toxins. She returned her pearly head to the moonlight, watching it ripple on the waves. A noise in the bushes made her head whip round again, and she tensed, the golden four point star on her forehead glittering under her horn.

Nightstar stopped. She stopped breathing and tried to move over out of the way in case the outlander saw her. She stepped to her left and stood on a tree branch. She cursed loudly and pulled herself out of the bush. From here she could see the merlicorn properly. She acted fast and pulled a big wave over her quickly. She decided to trap her in the wave until she was knocked out, just so she could carry her back to the castle and decide what to do there. She chanted some words that were giberish to normal ponies without her power of controlling the weather. The wave made a sphere around her as it hovered in the air.

Andromeda's gaze shot to a pony who emerged from the bushes. She was a white alicorn with blue, pink and white hair, and what looked like a silver tiara on her head. A wave of panic took the mericorn as the pony used some sort of power to cause a wave to crash over Andromeda, washing her from the rock slightly. The water then shaped and formed into a sphere. Andromeda was half merpony - she could survive for a while underwater but every now and then she had to breathe. She did not have gills. She knew that if she stayed in here too long she would most likely pass out. Quickly she hit the side of the ball with her sharp horn - it didn't yield. Fine. She'd have to fake being knocked out and escape then. Why she was being attacked she did not know. Swiftly she let herself go limp, faked that she was struggling and closed her eyes, lying on the bottom of the bubble. Hopefully this alicorn would buy it.

Nightstar paniced when the merlicorn hit th side of the sphere. She didnt know how strong it was. Her panic made a few drops of water fall off the bottom. She focused again once the sphere didnt break. After a few seconds, the merlicorn struggled to close her eyes adn hung limp at the bottom. Nightstar frowned. It was much too early for her to be knocked out. She hesitated. If she was knocked out, che didnt ant to kill her, and if she wasnt, Nightstar should wait for her to be really knocked out. But that would be hard when she is acting knocked out. Nightstar wouldnt know when to stop.
She left her a while longer and walked slowly to the spot where she droped. She looked dow at her to chck if she was breathing. Well, she's still alive [/b] Nightstar said to herself. She bent down beside her and stared into her forest green eyes.
If she ever needed to identify her again, she could, by the glittery hair, her sparkly golden horn, and the little orange starfish under her eye. She hesitated and wondered should she bring her to she castle, or leave her here, or decide she really was evil before giving her a chance and finish her off? Sure, wheres the dignity in that? She decided to bring her back to the castle. She poked her belly lightly and jumped back a bit.

Andromeda felt the water wave disperse and soon she fell to the ground, still in the tide so she couldn't transform. Not yet. She kept her eyes half closed, feigning unconciousness. The alicorn crept closer, and promptly poked her in the belly. This couldn't stop Andromeda from flincing slightly, and she knew that it has been visible. The merpony snapped open her eyes, transformed, jumped up and cantered to a safe distance all in one graceful movement. She stood out of the water, her legs spread a little and her head down, horn pointed towards the alicorn. Now she was in her unicorn form, you could clearly see that she was just as glittery in her tail as her mane, and her sparkly symbol had appeared. Who are you?

Nightstar shreicked when the pony jumped up and cantered away. She flew into the air for a second with fright, before landing again. Now that Nightstar could see the merlicorn clearly, and not in her mer form, she saw how glittery her tail was too. She was stunned for a second. Then she tryed to see her proper symbol but all she could see from this angle was some green, silver and orange glitter.
Who are you? the merlicorn asked.
Nightstar hesitated. She didnt know what to say. The sparly silver tiara on her head was an instant give away that she was royalty but still, she decided to not say anything giving her away, in case the pony was stupid. Which she obiously wasnt from the little stunt she pulled. She imitated the merlicorn, pointing her horn at her. From what she could see, she was in controll of the situation. She could fly and escape if nessecary, and the merlicorn couldnt fly.
I'll speak after you. Why are you here?

I'll speak after you. Why are you here?
The alicorn had an instant giveaway - her tiara. Andromeda knew she was royalty but not who she was. She had no contacts in the earthern lands after all. She shifted her forelegs together, her hind legs still splayed apart a little. Now she could jump into the water if need be. The alicorn would have no hope of catching her once she was in her element. Mind you, it was funny when the alicorn freaked when Andromeda escaped. She allowed a chuckle to slip past her facade. Why are you so interested in knowing? She asked, a slight menace to her tone. She wanted answers, and now.

Nightstar frowned. She saw the merlicorn looking at her tiara. OKay, not stupid. Then she realized, the merlicorn could jump into the water. Nightstar could fly over and catch her, but if she swam deep, she'd get away. The merlicorn chuckled. Nightstar hated beging laughed at. Her ears lay back against her head. She was realy mad!
Why are you interested in knowing? the merlicorn asked in a menacing tone. Nightstar cursed under her breath. As long as her mom wasnt around, she could get away with it. She smirked.
I could kill you now, for you have no fins and I could trap you again. I demand you answer my question! She said calmly, slightly grinning. She wouldnt have the guts to kill the pont but Redbow wasnt far off, he could do it. Or Nightstar could knock her out, as she knew to leave the merlicorn longer underwater. It was living in the sea, and could stay for longer without breathing than normal ponies. She stood casualy, as if she was talking normally to a pony who wasnt an outlander.

Andromeda heard Night Star curse under her breath. She smirked. Now now, royalty isn't supposed to curse. Remember your manners Princess. A wild guess. She looked too young to be Queen anyway.
I could kill you now, for you have no fins and I could trap you again. I demand you answer my question!
Andromeda listened to her words. Sure, she could be killed now and yes, she was in unicorn shape, but the instant she was fully immersed she would transform back to her mericorn shape. Willingly or not. The pearly white pony stayed silent, the moonlight making her coat shine and the glitter in her hair and on her symbol, forehead star and horn glinting brightly. She wasn't going to answer any demands, thats for sure. She was having a perfectly nice time and then she was startled by this... child. That had put her in a defiant mood.

Nightstar stood still.
Now now, royalty isn't supposed to curse. Remember your manners Princess. the merlicorn said. She seemed to be keeping cool. Something Nightstar found hard to do in some situtions.
Her eyes opened wide when the merlicorn called her 'princess'. A guess mabie? She was to small and young to be queen anyway. Her lips made a slight frown. She felt anger building up inside her. She knew when she got this hot-headed she found it harder to controll her powers. She didnt want to call on a storm and destroy the island, i she was capable of that. She truly didnt know how far she could strech her powers. She never tried to destroy the island before. She felt her powers slipping away from her grasp. The wind blew harder and the waves crashed more violently. She snapped back to reality and calmed herself. She was going to have to keep her cool if she wanted this to work in her favour.
She took a step towards the sea. Mabie if she got in and blocked the merlicorns path to the sea, she could sqeeze some answers out of her. Well I'm not going to answer first. You are getting a royal demand to answer first. She grinned. She loved winding people up using her power over them.

Andromeda frowned slightly as the pony made her way towards the sea, attempting to block it, and then spoke.
Well I'm not going to answer first. You are getting a royal demand to answer first.
Andromeda smiled slightly. I'm not answering. She turned and started to walk away calmly, heading down the beach. She was not going to be dragged down for something she had no idea what she was supposed to have done. She DID keep an eye out behind her though, using her ears and the vibrations in the sand. She was very good at that - reading vibrations in the water helped her get away from threats. Sometimes. Other times she was too d**n curious. Andromeda turned towards the water and started to walk in it. She stopped when she was knee deep and by the rock she had been on earlier, and just looked at the alicorn with those dark green eyes of hers.

Nightstar cursed. This time in her head. She wasnt going to let this outlander get away. It could be another pirate just waiting to take over the island or whatever the last one was trying to do.
I'm not answering.
Nightstar frowned. Me either she assured the merlicorn. Nightstar didnt move. She wanted to see if the merlicorn really would just swim away. If she did, Nightstar would go tell Meris and Redbow to look out for a merlicorn with glittery hair. She wasnt going to let this outlander away without a fight.
Nightstar saw the merlicorn knee deep. Why hadnt it transformed? Nightstar didnt want to make any sudden movements that the merlicorn would run away from. Her horn lit up. The water, only the water around the merlicorns feet froze. Holding it in place. She smirked. She could keep the merlicorn here without the risc of killing it. But not for too long, she didnt want to drin all of her streanght just holding it here!

Andromeda looked down at the water, then lit her horn and forced the water back, leaping up to the rock. Without another thought - she knew that for some reason this alicorn was trying to capture her - she jumped into the water, transforming in mid leap. Her beautiful glittery tail disappeared and was replaced by the pearly mer-tail with its shining silver fins. She landed squarely and gracefully in the middle of the moon's reflection, making tiny ripples, and disappeared under the surface. She wasn't going to be taken willingly. The alicorn would have the advantage on the land, but she had the advantage in the seas. Quietly she bobbed up behind the alicorn, green eyes watching.
