Redbow gave a grin back to Meris. He was pushing the captain's buttons and he knew it. He jumped up, straight out of the water and halfway onto the dock, flicking a fin at him. "You put an island underwater....." He gave an exaggerated gasp. "You must be powerful, Mr. Pirate." He watched him for moment then went on. "I'd love to help you..." he slid back into the water and his smile faded suddenly. He narrowed his eyes on the purple male. "But I just can't help a pirate." With that, he sank into the water, fully immersing himself, sinking to the bottom before swimming away.
Meris looked at the captain. He felt he needed to smooth things over with stallion before he blew his top. He knew his brother was just ruffling the pirate's feathers but still, the merpony decided that keeping things cordial between the mers and the pirates would be in the best intrest for both parties. So, Meris flashed a calm smile and swam to the dock, leaving Ocean Breeze behind him. "Please, pay no mind to my brother, Mister. He just wants to get a reaction out of you. It gives him a rush, I guess." He shrugged. "Anyway, what can I do for you, Captain?" He flashed another calm smile, eyeing the mare for a moment, then looking back to the purple stallion, hoping his cordial question would help smooth it over.

*crimson king took a deep breath, then smiled at the merpony.*
"nothing, now, really. forget i even said anything. you just go on back to swimming and doing the things you do. my crew and i will get some rest, then in the morning, we head out and trade. where you think we're pirates, i don't know. we're simple traders, and it would be in everyone's best interest to remember that."
*he turned and walked to his cabin. slamming the door shut behind him. he felt he handled that well. he shook his mane out and paced the smallish room to cool off.*

Meris gave a giggle as the hot headed pirate captain left him on the dock. He could feel that he was angry and couldn't help but laugh. Redbow had done it again. He always knew what buttons to push and just how to push them. Still, he didn't think the captain quite responded the way his brother really wanted, but he guessed it was enough. Shaking his head he sank back into the sea, swimming after his brother.
Redbow had only swam a little ways away from the dock, coming up to on a smooth rock to watch the shoreline. He was proud of himself, at the moment. He had caused a pirate, pretending to be a trader, to show his true colors. From his vantage point he could see the into ship and watch the pirate pace. It looked like he had made him him quite angry. A grin found it's way across his muzzle but faded suddenly. They were still planning a raid in the morning. Redbow glared at the pirate ship. How could they warn the others?
Just then, Meris jumped out of the water onto the same rock. "There you are.." he whispered. "Ocean Breeze followed us."
Redbow looked behind him. Sure enough he could see the faint outline of a swimming merpony heading his way. "It's better she's here..." He fell back into the waves and came up on another rock, behind the first. "Then there.." he pointed toward the ship with his fin. "They are dangerous.." he trailed off in thought.
Meris looked at his brother. "What are you going to do?"
Redbow dove into the water again and came back up on the first rock. "I don't know yet."

Halo swam around in the waters. Her blue wings were folded on her back, she skimmed through the water, her scaly tail propelling her forward. Her halo symbol sparkled when she rose to the surface. Seeing a pirate ship, she swam over, the Capt'n pacing on the deck. The 10 year old was curious.

*crimson king slowly calmed down.... curse those sea ponies.... he growled low in his throat then came to a conclusion.... he grinned slightly and walked back on deck. he went to the helmspony and in a very soft voice told him to put out to sea. he wasn't sure how much information those little ponies heard, but he could always change plans slightly, couldn't he....*
"put out to sea now, we'll go to the other side of the island and build a fort there. however, make sure the ship is at a nearby island while we are getting things prepared. dye a pony to look like me, and we'll confuse those little brats in the sea. make them think we are on another island, while me and a task force will be here raiding. who on board can make ponies invisible? if we can get them to do that, we can get to the island undetected." *he muttered softly in his helmspony's ear.*
*he walked back to his cabin but as an afterthought, he called over his shoulder*
"oh! and kill those pesky seaponies if you see them. or, better yet, capture them! we'll put them in a bucket of water and have entertainment every night!"
*he laughed as he entered his cabin and prepared himself for a raid. he took out his weaponry, spiked shoes and a spiked helm, he was deadly with them. across his back, he had armor plating. everything was, of course, polished and fit for a king. considering his father was a king, this was no surprise. he looked out his porthole window toward the shore.*

Halo swam around, she thought she had been seen by a crew member on the ship, but she disappeared quickly beneath the waves. She sank to the bottom of the sea, then rose again, and swam away from the ship. Halo then continued swimming in circles, bored. The 10 year old's lilac and white mane would be recognised amoung the rising and falling waves, but she was a quick swimmer.
Tequila Sunset lay on her bunk, her weapons propped up in the corner of the room. She was deep in thought.

*crimson king grinned. this was going to have to work, and maybe he had the perfect messenger. he went out of his room and walked to sunset's room. he had a job for her. he knocked, mindful to be polite and waited for a response.*

Sunset got up and opened the door. 'Yes Capt'n?' she asked.
Halo was swimming under the ship, then she swam away.

we're pulling out. plans have changed. you and few others are going to stay here on the other side of the island while the ship is going to the next island over. there's no telling what those pests of the sea down there heard or infered. i need you to be a runner between us and the ship when a message needs to go to them. no worry, though, you are not going to be just a messenger. we're going to find a way to infiltrate the castle and take hostages and slaves."
*he waited to see what her response was. this was more than just an assignment for her, it was a test of loyalty and skill. and he knew that she knew it too.*

Sunset nodded. 'Yes Capt'n.' She understood.
Halo continued swimming around, completely bored.

Meris’ ears perked. He could hear a few words here and there but knew the pirates were plotting something. He looked at Redbow then back to the ship. From where he and his brother were, they could see inside the Captain’s cabin and the decks, but none of the ship’s ponies could see them. The blue mer slid back into the water so that his brother could get a better look at what was going on. They were only a few hundred feet from the great pirate ship so they had to be as quiet as possible. No problem for the brothers.
Redbow craned his neck to see better and perked his ears, straining to make out the words. It did not come easy but he was able to make some sensible sentences.
“….Dye a pony to look like me, and we'll confuse those little brats in the sea. Make them think we are on another island, while me and a task force will be here raiding….”
Redbow wanted to lay his ears back but knew he still had to listen. Reluctantly he kept his ears erect making out more words, words he didn’t like.
"…Oh! and kill those pesky seaponies if you see them. or, better yet, capture them! We'll put them in a bucket of water and have entertainment every night!"
Even Meris heard some of that statement. It didn’t surprise him and it definitely didn’t surprise Redbow, either. Craning his neck once again, the red mer watched the captain put on, what looked like, armor. It was very shiny, something that naturally drew Redbow to the sight. His eyes sparkled in time with the armor. It was beautiful, fit for a king. The merpony shook his head to clear his mind. “Deal with that later…” he reminded himself. He pulled himself a bit more forward to get a better view but the captain was nowhere to be seen. He cursed under his breath, glaring at the ship. He had heard enough anyway. He turned to his brother in a hissing whisper. “I knew those guys were up to no good…” He growled as he jumped back into the water and swam away toward the other beach. ((Redbow, continued on the beach))
Meris perked his ears for a moment. “What..?” His brother swam off too quickly to get an answer. “Wait..” he called back in little more than a whisper.
"Sorry to follow you around and everything but I never met any other merponys. Mind if I hang around for a while?"
A child’s voice caught him off guard. It was Ocean Breeze. He gave a small smile wondering why she had not seen many mers. But he answered her question politely. “Sure, if you want. Maybe I can introduce you to some playmates that are your age.”

Halo saw another few mer-ponies. A child, like her, and two older males. She accidentally swam too close to the ship, and her lilac and white mane bobbed on the surface. She poked her head up, unaware that she might be in any danger at all.
