Zelos and Hummingbird watched as the little wingers whispered among themselves. No doubt it was about them. maybe what to do about them. Zelos gave a half smile as they continued to whisper to one another. Such careful, distrustful little ponies. But, like Himmingbird, he couldn't blame them. They WERE strangers in this land. They did seem fishy even now. Perhaps they should have used a different tatic at the begining? But, the little wingers were younger than them. That could be a good thing.
Hummingbird looked back at the ground. He was still worrying about his shipmates. Zelos gave a sigh. "We'll find him. Just do what you need to." he whispered, making sure the wingers were still doing their own whispering, so they wouldn't hear.
Hummingbird let his ears droop again. "Alright." he whispered, pushing himself up taller on his hooves, but his wings still hung limp on either side. "But they don't seem to trust us." he hissed to his comrade.
Zelos gave him a smile. "They care about our friend. That's a start." he whispered, putting a hoof to his friend's ear.
Hummingbird opened his mouth to say something when the wingers turned their attention back to the flutters, Pak speaking for them. "So! We've decided to help you get around! Where did you want to go first?"
Zelos gave a warm, tired smile. "We are in your debt. Thank you." he said with a bow.
Hummingbird nodded. "We owe you." Then he looked at Zelos with a pleading look.
Zelos glanced at him but shook his head. "We would love if you could show us the island."

Pak waved one slender hoof lightly, giving a little shrug. "Oh, no no, it's all right! We just want to hear about your adventures at sea!" He said brightly, eyeing them with shining curiosity. "Sea monsters, pirates, all the fun stuff!"
"Once we're further inland, of course." Vio said smoothly, gently tugging Pak's tail as he began to move further into the brush, and away from the ocean.
"Oh, right! It's safer there." Pak chirped, trotting after Vio bouncily, his wings fluttering with excitement at each step.
Moondrop followed the pair at a somewhat slower pace, so that he remained even with the two flutters. He shot them a brief sideways glance, but otherwise didn't seem very suspicious; outwardly, at least. They DID seem genuinely worried about their friend, maybe they were just lying to protect him? Or maybe he was just being over-suspicious, and they were just upset from their shipwreck...
"So!" Pak waved with one hoof to the left and right alternatively, leading the group along a little winding trail through the jungle-y brush. At least, to small ponies, it seemed jungle-y. "This is a Mulberry bush, it has good berries to eat! Just make sure they're ripe first; and if you keep following this side trail, you'll find a river!"

Zelos nodded to Pak and Vio as they expressed their want to know their "daring" adventures. He guessed to these natives, the life of a sailor must have seemed exciting and glamorous. But, in truth, they weren't just your ordinary sailors. They were what ordinary sailors feared most. True, bonified pirates. And while Zelos would have loved to recall the true tales of his days on the Crimson Tide, he would, instead, be stuck weaving little lies for their delight. That was not going to be fun. His thoughts made his shimmery wings droop a little.
Hummingbird caught that, casting a glance his comrade's way, he looked at him, quisically, shrugging his shoulders as if to ask 'what'.
Zelos just briefly shook his head, turning his attention to the little one called Moondrop who walked in step with them, watching them. Hummingbird gave Zelos a look as if to say 'he's suspicious...' Zelos gave a slight nod before perking his ears to the sound of Pak's voice as they made their way inland, through the brush.
Both flutters nodded to him with a smile but Hummingbird asked them a question, hoping to push their train of thought in another direction other than their sailing. "So, " he stopped next to a bush. "How do you know when the berries are just right and ripe?" he asked. He really wanted to know but it was also a tactic. If he could get them talking about the island, the focus would shift off of them.

Pak glanced back between the two sailors, eyes bright with curiosity. "Oh, they have to be dark purple, or even black! That's when they're ripest, and nice and juicy." He chirped, trotting along the path, fluttering over any low-slung roots and branches. "You guys like mulberries?" He glanced back at the pair, wings wiggling happily.
Vio glanced at the pair curiously, galloping alongside Pak. "Look, we should get as far from the shore as possible; at least until the mers stop chasing you guys. You can hang out at our clubhouse, if you'd like. Might be a little cramped, but I bet we can all fit!"
Moondrop noted the meaningful glance passed between the pair, and dutifully kept his eyes on the path. Yep, suspicious. Still, at least they outnumbered the flutters; if worse came to worst, one of them might be able to fly off for help while the other two kept them busy.

Zelos and Hummingbird nodded to him. "Actually, yeah." It was Hummingbird. "I used to have those at Flutter Valley." Now that was true. Flutter Valley grew anything you wanted because of the sun stone. The berries were always delicious.
Zelos nodded again. "Yep, delicious." That was true for too. When he was young hanging with Hummingbird, he explored Flutter Valley too. He let a smile turn up the corners of his mouth. What a time they had. He trotted along happily with Hummingbird, reminising.
"Look, we should get as far from the shore as possible; at least until the mers stop chasing you guys. You can hang out at our clubhouse, if you'd like. Might be a little cramped, but I bet we can all fit!"
That jolted them out of their thoughts. "Huh?" they both asked as they stopped. Clubhouse? Zelos and Hummingbird looked at one another.
"Where's your uh...clubhouse?" Zelos asked, his ears errect as he walked up to Pak.
Hummingbird noticed the look Moondrop gave them. He was so suspiscious. But, reflecting on the scenario, he'd be suspicious of them too.

"Oh! It's nice and high up in a tree, only us wingers can get to it!" Pak chirped merrily, dancing on his hind legs. "But I'm sure you two will be able to get there too, since you have wings as well! It's really nice; lots of tasty flowers grow near to it, and you can fly among the trees--"
"There's plenty of cover from anyone seeking to follow you, and it will DEFINITELY lose the mers, even if they try to come inland." Vio finished stoutly, trotting along after Pak at a more leisurely pace. "It's very safe, and very hidden. It will protect you as it has protected us."
Moondrop was silent as they walked, glancing from side to side occasionally, as if afraid the merponies would leap out at them even as they spoke.

Zelos and Hummingbird looked at each other, their ears perking in the wingers direction as Pak and Vio spoke. And from the sound of this tree house, well, it sounded to be the perfect place to hide from those mers. It aslo just sounded plain lovely, like a place in flutter valley or something. Oh, how long had it been since they had the tastey vegitation from the valley? Hummingbird looked at the ground with that saddening thought. He did miss the simple life that most flutters were supposed to enjoy.
Zelos watched the wingers thinking they were quite cute little impish things. But he noticed Moondrop still acting so wary, why? They must still not be trusted by these little things. He gave a sigh that pushed Hummingbird back to reality. He looked back at the two wingers but it was Zelos who spoke. "Sounds like a great place."
Hummingbird followed the cue. "Lead the way." he said with a smile.

Pak beamed at the two brightly, his expression alight with the joy of adventure. "It is! It's soooo great, we hang out there a lot! You guys can stay there for ... well, awhile! We have all kinds of nice things growing there you can munch on!" He chirped, ducking under a particularly large frond, his tail wiggling as he dissapeared.
Vio followed, and gestured to the flutters to follow under the leaf. Hidden behind the leaf was the base of a very large, thick tree, ringed around with ferns and lush vegetation. At first, it seemed difficult to see WHY the trio had halted before it, but as Pak tugged at several of the clinging vines, it became clear that some of them had been tied into a makeshift rope ladder, and blended in well amongst the greenery of the tree.
Pak hooked one hoof onto it, and looked back to the flutters, smiling encouragingly. "Cmon up! You guys can probably fly there, but this is a good guide!" He smiled brightly, and shimmied/fluttered up the tree's thick trunk. Vio waited at the bottom of the trunk, clearly waiting for the guests to ascend first.
"After you." He nodded politely, stepping out of the way for the pair. Moondrop stood beside him, his eyes still watching the pair silently, no particular emotion obvious in them.

Vio followed, and gestured to the flutters to follow under the leaf.
Both flutter ponies stopped for a moment then proceeded under the leaf.
And there they stopped, staring at the huge tree from base to trunk, to as far up as they could see.
"Woah.." Hummingbird's blue eyes were wide and glittery. It looked like some place out of Flutter Valley. He felt a tinge of childlike excitement as he watched the winger shimmy/flutter up the vine ladder.
Zelos just stared up the tree, watching Pak half flutter up it. Such energy. He glanced over at his comrade, feeling that twinge of childlike excitement as well. It did remind him of his days in Flutter Valley.
"After you." He nodded politely, stepping out of the way for the pair.Moondrop stood beside him, his eyes still watching the pair silently, no particular emotion obvious in them.
Zelos glanced at Vio who was clearly waiting for them to go up. He nudged Hummingbird who gave him a grin. "I know you want to go up first, so go ahead."
Hummingbird grabbed the vine rope and skillfully shimmied/fluttered up it like it was the ropes of the rigging of the ship. Zelos shook his head with a smile till he saw Moondrop. Hmm... such a distrustful little winger. He gave him a small smile before shimmying/fluttering up the vines just as easily as Hummingbird.

Pak peered down at them from the bushy growth above, smiling at them. "Cmon up, it's not as high as it looks! And ya can all FLY, can't ya!" He giggled, and ducked back inside, making way for the visitors. Perhaps they WERE being a little too trusting... still, there wasn't much time to worry over Moondrop's words, so he simply allowed his enthusiasm for adventure to lead his steps.
Vio smiled at Hummingbird, and watched him shimmy/flutter up the vines. After Zelos fluttered up after him, Vio followed the pair, leaving Moondrop to bring up the rear.
Moondrop watched Zelos smile at him, feeling some of his trust wobble. He SEEMED okay... but they just reeked of danger, or treachery, or SOMETHING!! Something wasn't right, and it was up to Moondrop to keep his friends safe! So, with some misgivings, he followed the group into the tree.
Awaiting them at the top was a well-furnished little room, although it was a hint shabby and well-loved; several hammocks were strung in one corner, too small for any adult stallion pony, and comfortable piles of pillows and blankets were tucked into another corner. Scattered throughout the round room were a few pieces of worn furniture; an easy chair with a rip in the side, a somewhat tattered sofa, with mismatched cushions. It was a little damaged, but with over use. There were a couple open doorways, with cloth curtains blocking the view from the outside; apparantly, they led off into the trees around the small house.
Pak grinned at the newcomers, showing off their home. "Like it?"

Pak grinned at the newcomers, showing off their home. "Like it?"
Zelos and Hummingbrid were still looking around the place when they heard him. "Oh, yeah." Zelos said as he sat on the ground. "How long have you guys had it?"
Hummingbird, on the other hand, walked around the room looking fondly at everything. The place reminded him of the simpler times he and Zelos shared as youngsters. When things weren't so complicated and they didn't have to hide all the time, or guard their lives. Hummingbird let his wings droop a bit as he thought about the old days in Flutter Valley. Sometimes he really missed it and this was one of those times. Sometimes he really regreted becoming a pirate, well, sometimes. He glanced around at the various worn things in the room, reaching out to touch a hoof to them now and then. Yep, this was one of those times. "I think it's a great place, guys." he said with a complete air of comfort in his voice.

Pak shrugged, hopping into one of the hammocks so he could settle down comfortably on his belly, watching the newcomers. "Oh, a long time! Our parents helped build it for us when we were little, mostly to keep us from destroying anyone elses' lawns..." He giggled, fanning his wings before settling down, resting his jaw on his crossed front legs. "You guys can feel free to sit on the furniture if you want, ha, it's not going to get much worse than it is now!" He giggled, tail whisking from side to side merrily.
"So, do you two have any way of getting in contact with your ship, or your crew? Or anyone who might be able to come rescue you from the merponies?" Vio asked curiously, his ears perked as he settled onto the pile of blankets. "I don't know how you'll get home, unless you have someone else who can come to scare off the merponies long enough for you to sail out of port..."
Moondrop followed in silently, and settled himself in his hammock, content to simply watch the goings-on for the moment.

"You guys can feel free to sit on the furniture if you want, ha, it's not going to get much worse than it is now!" He giggled, tail whisking from side to side merrily.
At Zelos' gesture, both flutter ponies got up and sat on the comfortable, worn couch. And man it was comfortable! Both flutters scootched into the cushions. Ahhh, they finally felt warm and safe. There was no way the mers could find them here. Zelos watched the little wingers closely but always seemed to come back to the one called Pak. He was so upbeat and...well, cute. There really was no other word for it! He dropped his gaze to the floor, feeling stupid and strange.
Hummingbird noticed it, he gazed at him, ears perked but Vio's voice shattered his thoughts.
Both flutters looked at each other then at the wingers. They really had a whole camp of pirates to call on. But their mission was to find the others. Of course they weren't going to tell the wingers this.
Hummingbird looked around the room. "Uh...we don't know if anyone survived." he said quietly.
Zelos looked at Pak. "Yeah, they most likely drown. But we wanted to look for our friends. See if anyone might have survived." He realized he was looking at the Winger to long. He averted his gaze to the others. "We really don't have a place to stay." He found his gaze falling back on Pak. "Would you mind if we stayed here with you, while we look for our friends?"

The trio of wingers watched the flutters settle onto their couch, curious about their new guests. Pak was especially curious, but even he was beginning to notice the significant amount of glances the flutters shared. Maybe they were escaped slaves? Or prisoners?
"You don't? So sad! Well, you two made it through, right? So maybe your friends did too!" Pak said reassuringly, his wings fluttering briefly from where he was curled up. "We can help you look!"
Vio nodded in agreement, fluttering his wings as he stretched his front legs out. "Yeah, you can stay here for now! Plenty of room, we'll get some blankets and pillows and we'll all fit fine." He smiled, glancing over to Moondrop.
Moondrop didn't protest, although he seemed not to protest when they asked to stay. They weren't very dangerous now, perhaps, and it would be cruel to force them out.

Hummingbird's ears perked. "You would?" he asked his spirits rising a bit. He looked over at Zelos with a slow smile. He really wanted to find the others, Zelos could tell by his sudden perking up.
Zelos just smiled at the wingers with a nod, his gaze breifly coming to rest on the quiet one, Moondrop. He knew something, didn't he? Zelos' gaze suddenly went to Vio as he spoke.
io nodded in agreement, fluttering his wings as he stretched his front legs out. "Yeah, you can stay here for now! Plenty of room, we'll get some blankets and pillows and we'll all fit fine." He smiled, glancing over to Moondrop.
Zelos tired to be diplomatic. "We thank you for your genorousity." he said cheerfully, but it was mostly to Pak. He actually hated lying to the trusting Winger but what else could he do?
